Lover's Beach at a glance

Lover's Beach, known in Spanish as Playa del Amor, is a small beach next to El Arco at Land's End. No road leads there, so every visit starts on the water. Water taxis go from Médano Beach, glass-bottom boats leave from the marina, and some visitors paddle over by kayak or paddleboard. If you prefer a guided trip that passes the arch too, start with the Cabo boat tours.

Landing is never guaranteed. When the swell is up, boats may not be able to put people ashore. Swimming is possible only on the Gulf of California side of the sand strip, and only when the sea allows it.

How to get to Lover's Beach

Three ways, all on the water.

Water taxi from Médano

Water taxis go from Médano Beach to the cove. Agree the price both ways and the return pickup before you step off. A tour price is not a water taxi fare.

Glass-bottom boat from the marina

One 2026 example takes 45 minutes and runs daily. It costs $18 instead of $25 without land transfer and $35 instead of $45 with land transfer, per person, plus a $3 dock fee. A life jacket is included, and the beach stop is optional.

Kayak or paddleboard

Some visitors paddle over from the bay. Check the sea state first, and do not set out when the swell is high.

For most visitors, the glass-bottom boat is the simplest way, because the trip also passes El Arco and the beach stop is optional. If you want to spend time on the sand, book the version with land transfer and confirm the return time.

Our pick: Lover's Beach by boat

This trip combines Lover's Beach with a snorkeling stop, so you do not need a second booking.

Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach

Two beaches on one strip of sand, with different seas.

BeachSideSwimming
Lover's Beach (Playa del Amor)Gulf of California sideOnly on this side, and only when the sea allows
Divorce Beach (Playa del Divorcio)Pacific side of the sand stripThe water is too dangerous for swimming

Do not treat the two beaches as equal swimming spots. For most visitors, the sensible plan is to swim, if at all, on the Gulf side and to treat Divorce Beach as a place to look at. Local flags and instructions come before any guide, including this one.

Fees, rules and what to bring

The beach lies inside the protected area at Land's End.

The protected area charges 125 MXN per person and day. Children under 12, older people, retirees and people with disabilities are exempt, with proof where needed. Students and teachers with a valid ID get a 75 percent discount, and Mexican nationals and foreign residents with official proof get 50 percent. Do not assume that discounts can be combined. Get a wristband or an official proof of payment, and ask whether your tour price already includes the fee.

Do not disturb plants, animals or the landscape, and follow safety instructions. Plan as if the beach has no services: bring water and sun protection, and check the weather and sea before you go. Hot months bring strong sun, and the hurricane season for the eastern Pacific runs from 15 May to 30 November.

Choose your Lover's Beach plan

Match the trip to what you want from the day.

You want the view

Take the glass-bottom boat and skip the beach stop, which is optional. You see the cove, El Arco and the cliffs from the water at a lower price.

You want time on the sand

Book the version with land transfer or take a water taxi from Médano, and agree the return pickup before you land.

You want to swim

Swim only on the Gulf of California side, and only when the flag and the sea allow it. Never swim on the Pacific side.

You travel with children

Children under 12 are exempt from the protected area fee. Keep them away from the Pacific side of the strip.

Lover's Beach sits where whale watching is restricted around the arch, so it is not a whale stop. For the season and the rules, see Cabo whale watching. For all other swimming spots, see the beaches guide.

Lover's Beach in Cabo: frequently asked questions

How do you get to Lover's Beach?

By water only. Water taxis go from Médano Beach, glass-bottom boats leave from the marina, and kayaks and paddleboards are also used. No road reaches the beach.

Can you swim at Lover's Beach?

Only on the Gulf of California side, and only when the sea is calm enough. Local flags and instructions decide.

Is Divorce Beach safe for swimming?

No. The water on the Pacific side is too dangerous for swimming, so enjoy the view and stay out of the water.

Is there an entrance fee?

The protected area charges 125 MXN per person and day, with exemptions and discounts. Ask whether your tour includes it. The dock fee of $3 is a separate item.

Will the boat always land at the beach?

No. Landing depends on the swell, so boats may skip the beach stop on a rough day.
